Caps Fall to Spartans 7-1

Broughton took a 1-0 lead in the first on a double by short stop Dom Ford and a run scoring single by center fielder Will Baldwin.  The Caps played solid defense the entire game, especially in the bottom of the 3rd when Thomas Walden made a beautiful diving catch in deep left field to rob an extra base hit.  That catch was followed by pitcher Cam Epperson charging hard to field a swinging bunt bare-handed to throw out the runner at first.  Later in the game Mathis Dean and Ford combined on a rare 1-6-1 double play.  (ground ball to the first baseman who throws to second for the force out then back to first to get the batter.)  The Caps stranded several runners on base as Sanderson pulled away late in the game.  Will Baldwin lead the offense with two hits and the RBI; Dean, Ford and Kuhns each had a hit.

Next game: Thursday, April 30th, 4:30 @ Broughton vs. Wake Forest.
