State of the Program

Caps,
Hope this letter finds everyone doing well and staying safe from the Corona!  While you might expect this e-mail to be dark and gloomy given the recent developments of the NCHSAA and Wake County Athletics, but our program is very optimistic and upbeat.

For those of you who don’t know, we are suspended from play/practice/team functions through April 6th.  We are hoping to be back on the field for the Bobby Murray Tourney which begins April 9th at Holly Springs HS.  Days 1 (April 9 – 7pm vs Holly Springs) and 2 (April 10 – 4pm vs Apex) of the tourney will be at Holly Springs HS and Day 3 (April 3 – TBD) will be at Millbrook.

There is some uncertainty around the return to play date.  We are hopeful that we are cleared to return April 6th.  The remainder of the schedule will be reconfigured and as soon as we get the word from the AD’s.  In all likelihood, the remaining schedule will be conference games only.
The season has started out as good as we could have hoped.  We are 3-0 with back to back shutouts on the mound.  We have allowed no earned runs so far in 2020.  Senior, Daniel Brown (Signed with Campbell) has 2 wins and 23 strikeouts in 8 innings of work.  The Caps pitching staff has anchored the early season success (no hit Holly Springs and shut out Athens and Rolesville).  Offensively, the Caps have found success with consistent hitting up and down the lineup.  2-out RBI’s have also been key to the success.

We have 9 seniors and I’d ask you to keep them in your thoughts and prayers as we look forward to seeing their senior year continue in April.  This is a very difficult time for those guys.
Please keep in mind the Blayne Brown Kids Camp on April 18th.

Hope to see you out at Wiley Warren Field sometime.  I’ll get Karl an updated schedule as soon as I can over the next couple of weeks but for now, there’s no baseball at BHS.

Go Caps!
