Caps Struggle at Bobby Murray Tournament

Broughton lost 11-0 to a very good Wake County Home School team.   Warren Grady (Soph.) and Thomas Walden (Jr.) each had a single.  Jacob McCaslin (Jr.) pitched well in relief.

After Friday rainouts, Broughton faced back-to-back games Saturday against two of Wake County’s perennial powers – Green Hope and Middle Creek.  Green Hope’s pitcher, a UNC-W signee, proved too much for the Caps as the Falcons defeated Broughton 13-1.  Senior Noah Yarborough had a nice diving catch in right field.  Cam Epperson (Jr.) pitched in relief and had a couple of solid innings on the mound.

After two games with little offense and shaky defense, the Caps played well in dropping a close game to Middle Creek, 2-0, just giving up one earned run on three hits.  Warren Grady (Soph.) kept the Mustangs bats in check with 5 strong innings.  Will Baldwin (Jr.) pitched a 1-2-3 6th to hold the Mustangs but the Caps came up empty in the top of the 7th.  Yarborough, Baldwin and Mathis Dean (Fr.) had singles for the Caps.  Congratulations to Will Baldwin for making the All Tournament Team.

Next game: Tuesday, March 30, 7:00 at Millbrook.
