Caps have lead through the 5th and then the wheels fall off
Game Photos Click Here

The Caps played 5 great innings carrying a 4-2 lead into the 6th.  Then Millbrook scored 10 runs in 2 innings as the Caps were held scoreless for a final score of 12-4.  Joe Bialkowski showed great poise on the mound and Garret Willamson had a great game behind the plate but it was not enough to overcome the late inning troubles.  The Caps have been outscored 23-0 in the final 3 innings this year.  This disturbing trend has hindered a talented team too long.   The ability is certainly there but the leadership has not emerged from the young squad.  If the Caps have any hope to turn this year around it is time for the players to step up and be accountable.

Caps Young Pitching Staff Still Searching for their first Victory

The Caps fall to Holly Springs 11-4.  Coach Jones continues to shake up the lineup looking for the magical combination.  With 3 games and conference play starting this week pitching is at a premium.  A young staff with little varsity experience has proved to be a steep learning curve.  The inability to close out innings and recover from mistakes has resulted in a 0-4 start.  The offense scored 4 runs but also left 7 men on base in scoring position.  The offense will need to capitalize on these opportunities as they start conference play today. Dom Ford continues to shine as he moves to the leadoff position going 2-4(2B), The Caps also got good offensive proformances from Austin Walker 2-4(2B) and Braden Williamson 1-3(3RBIs)

The Caps had Victory in their Grasp only to be Ripped Away

The Caps faced off with Garner on cold wet Friday afternoon.  The Trojans had beat the Caps earlier in the week on a late HR and the Broughton boys were looking for a little payback. With a two run lead and two outs in the top the 7th inning the Caps had victory in their hands but only for a split second.  What would have been the 3rd out and the end of the game turned in favor of Garner on a controversial call by the home plate umpire.  The field umpire unable to see the obvious tag at first base a few steps in front of the bag asked the home plate umpire if he saw it, the home plate umpire who was watching the 2 runners come around 3rd, not the direction of first base made the safe signal.  This call turned the tide of the game as the Trojans scored two additional runs and won the game 7-5.  This bitter defeat did not sour our men as they held their heads high knowing soon they will soon taste victory.

Freshman Dominic Ford showed moments of greatness both on offense and defense going 1-2 with a HR (2 RBIs) plus flashing the glove with diving stops at 2nd Base.  Jr. Joe Bialkowski continues his stellar play going 1-3 (2B 2RBIs).  The future of this team looks to be in good hands.  This is the best 0-3 team I have ever seen, but that is only one fans opinion.  Come see for yourself they play next Friday at Riverside HS 4:00pm
