Final Scrimmage before Opening Day-Saturday Feb 27^th 11:00am Wiley Warren Field (BHS) Broughton Baseball takes on Fuquay Varina

The Broughton Caps will take on Fuquay Varina in their final scrimmage before opening day next Tuesday against Garner HS.  The scrimmage is scheduled for 11:00am Feb 27^th at Wiley Warren Field (Broughton).  The Caps did not play FQ last year but there is no love lost between the two schools.  They have met several times in the state playoffs.  Sanderson knocked off FQ in the 2^nd round of the 09 State playoffs before ending the Caps run in the 3^rd.  The weather looks nice high of 50 and partly cloudy. Hope to see you there.

The Caps will open the regular season Tuesday March 2^nd against Garner HS.  The Caps defeated the Trojans in their only meeting last year.  The game is scheduled for 4:00 at Garner HS.

Over 60 students braved the cold and rain to tryout this week.  With the season right around the corner it does not give the coaching staff much time to make roster decisions.  Broughton (16-10 overall and 8-4 conference record in 2009) graduated 5 seniors last year and are looking to reload for a 4th strait run at the state playoffs.  They were defeated by Sanderson in the 3rd round last year and are eager to get another shot.

Their first scrimmage against E. Chapel Hill HS has been canceled.  Broughton will hold an inter-squad game at Wiley Warren Field (Broughton HS) starting at 10:30am this Saturday 2/20/10
