Caps down 3-2 when rain suspended play.

Sophomore Warren Grady took the mound to begin the game and pitched a solid 3 2/3 innings.  In addition to Grady, Coach Jones’ lineup included John Woods (Sr.) behind the plate, Mathis Dean (Fr.) at 1st, Kyle Ehlers (Fr.) 2nd, Dom Ford (Sr.) SS, Cam Epperson (Jr.) 3rd, Thomas Walden (Jr.) LF, Will Baldwin (Jr.) CF and Noah Yarborough (Sr.) RF.

Dom Ford got things going with two put outs in the top of the 1st and in the Caps first at bat, Ford hit a deep shot to right that was misplayed.  Grady had a sacrifice bunt and Ford scored on a RBI single by Cam Epperson.  In the bottom of the 2nd Walden singled up the middle and scored on a double by Ford to make it 2-0 Caps.  After Grady shut out the Trojans in the top of the 3rd, Epperson doubled, followed by singles from Woods and Baldwin but the Caps left the bases loaded in the 3rd.  Garner’s bats woke up in the top of the 4th to plate 3 runs.  Will Collins (Jr.) came in to pitch the final out of the 4th, a three-pitch strikeout.  Garner held the Caps scoreless in the bottom of the 4th.  Collins went back to pitch the 5th and that’s when the raindrops started to fall.  Game was suspended and will be completed at a later date.
