Caps Drop Close One to 1st Place Heritage

Thomas Walden (Jr.) pitched a complete game seven-hitter but the Caps could not convert several scoring opportunities, losing 3-1 .  The score was tied 0-0 after the 3rd.  Heritage took a 2-0 lead on a two-out, two-strike bloop hit over the first baseman’s head and scored its final run on a solo shot over the center field fence.  Broughton scored its run when Mathis Dean (Fr.) singled, Dom Ford (Sr.) walked, then Noah Yarborough (Sr.) connected on an RBI single to score Dean.  The Caps stranded five runners over the final three innings.  Broughton played one of its best defensive games on the year – committing no errors and making numerous defensive stops.  Cam Epperson (Jr.) lead the defense with a couple of nice plays at third.  Leading hitters:  Dean and Yarborough had two hits each, Ford and Woods one hit each.

Next game: Thursday, April 16th , 4:30 @ home against Wake Forest. against Heritage.

The BHS Baseball program is pleased to announce the dedication of their new backstop on April 24th prior to the Millbrook home game.  This will be a celebration of Judd’s life with all of his friends and family.
