Caps start the final week of the regular season with another conference win over Heritage
The Caps returned home Tuesday to take on a visiting Heritage Team that has challenged opponents all year long and today’s game proved no different. Caps get their runs early with one run in the first and second and then rode the arms of winning starting pitcher So. Wilson White (5-1) and Sr. reliever Pierce Jensen along with error free defense to take the win. Sr. Josh Clark got it going in the first staying hot at the plate with a single and scored on Jr. Will Cooper’s RBI single. The Caps pick up a second run in the second inning with Sr. Tanner Parker getting the job done all by himself leading things off with a single, steeling second base and scoring on two passed balls. The bats cool down as the Caps go scoreless the rest of the way.
So. Wilson White and Sr. Pierce Jensen, only needed the one run in the first to secure the win as the pitching duo combined to hold Heritage scoreless. So. Wilson White went 5 2/3 innings in his start surrendering just 5 hits with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts for another excellent outing. Sr. Pierce Jensen came in the 6th with two outs and got the third out of the inning on a first pitch fly ball. Sr. Jensen answered the bell in the 7th and did what he has done all year in relief and shut down the Heritage last at bat allowing no runs on no hits with 1 walk and a strikeout to end the game.
