Caps Drop Final Game 8-3 to Sanderson

With the # three seed home playoff spot secured, the Caps come out flat and could not turn it around before losing to a Sanderson Team who played a flawless game trying to earn a playoff wild card spot. Losing pitcher, So. Wilson White went 3 innings to collect the loss. Caps pick up 1 of the 2 possible runs in the top of the first but Sanderson explodes out the gate with a lead off home run by Jr. Daniel Adams and finish with two more runs to go up 3-1 after one. Sanderson picks up their 4th run in the third to go up 4-1. The Caps pulled to within 1 in the 4th but Sanderson answered with two more of it’s own off reliever Sr. Pierce Jensen. The caps bats are held in check the rest of the way with Sanderson adding two more in the 5th to close it out 8-3. What a difference this game could have been if we were anywhere other than Sanderson, as Sanderson was able to corral 3 shots to the wall!

Caps Drop Senior Day Vs. Wakefield 8-6

Cap’s recognized 8 seniors Friday on Senior Day against rival conference leaders Wakefield. Seniors Josh Clark, Payne Eller, Charlie Goode, Pierce Jensen, Tanner Parker, Kevin Partin, Brandon Saunders and David Wyche started and finished the game determined to get it done and for the first 3 innings did not disappoint. Losing pitcher, Sr. Brandon Saunders, pitched his 4th complete game of the season but gave up a solo HR in the second to fall down 1-0. The Caps push a run across in the bottom of the second to tie it up. The Caps rough up Wakefield ace, Ravi Patel, for 5 runs in the bottom of the third to take a 6-1 lead after 3. Wakefield answered for 4 runs in the top of the 4th to make a game of it. The Caps get the first batter on base in the bottom of the 4th and Wakefield called on Evan Brabrand to replace Patel on the mound who promptly shut down the Caps the rest of the game. Saunders comes back strong in the 5th holding the wolverines scoreless but the Caps surrender 2 in the 6th and 1 in the 7th to lose the game.

Caps scored 6 runs on 4 hits with 2 errors.
Wakefield finished with 8 runs on 7 hits with 3 errors.

Special thanks to the senior’s for their significant contributions to Capitals Baseball and we wish them well in their future endeavors
