Caps Loose Two to Non Conference Opponent Middle Creek In Continuation Game from March 9th, 15-10 and Comes Up Short in the Shortened 5 Inning Second Game 5-3.

The 15 runs the Caps surrendered March 9th was just too big to overcome but the Caps made a run at it scoring 4 in the 5th. With 2 men on and no outs in the top of the 5th, So. Ziquine Hopkins and Sr. Tanner Parker score on past balls. The sophomore duo of Max Magallanes and Team leading hitter Joe Bialkowski struck again with So. Magallanes scoring on So. Bialkowski’s RBI single. So. Bialkowski and Sr. Tanner Parker produce a couple more singles in the 6th and 7th but can’t get any more runs across the plate ending the game 15 – 10. Pitchers So. Bialkowski and Sr. Josh Clark keep Middle Creek hitless and scoreless for the last three innings but the damage had already been done. So. Bialkowski threw two innings surrendering one run on 1 hit, 2 strikeouts, and 1 BB. Sr. Josh Clark took over in the 7th surrendering no runs, on no hits, and 1 BB.

The regular scheduled second game was limited to a 5 inning game by the officiating crew. The Caps outplay and out hit Middle Creek but end up with the loss surrendering 5 free bases on walks and the only error of the game by the Caps that produced 2 unearned runs. So. Bialkowski led things off in the first with a single and scored on Jr. Will Cooper’s RBI single after being put into scoring position on Jr. Will Barfield’s sacrifice bunt. So. Bialkowski gets thing started again in the 3rd reaching first on an error and moving over to 2nd on Jr. Barfield’s fielder choice and scored on Jr. Will Cooper’s RBI double for his second hit of the night. Caps pick up their third and final run in the 4th with Sr. Josh Clark, reaching base on one of his two singles for the night scoring on So. Bialkowski’s second single of the game. Middle Creek pushed 5 runs across on 3 hits, one error and 5 walks.

Starting pitcher Pierce Jensen,  threw two strong innings limiting Middle Creek to 1 run on 1 hit and 2 BB’s. Sr. Brandon Saunders took the mound in the third surrendering 2 unearned runs on 2 hits, I error, 1 strikeout and no walks. Sr. Charlie Goode recorded the loss finishing up in the 4th surrendering 2 runs on 1 hit, 3 BB’s and one strikeout.

Tuesday’s away game with Conference foe Leesville Road was canceled due to rain and has been rescheduled for an afternoon game on Wednesday April 13, 2010. Big conference game, come out and support the Caps!
