Caps Hand Visiting Millbrook a 4-3 loss and Complete Important 3 Game Week on the Positive note Winning 2 out of 3

Home – Broughton 4
Visitors – Millbrook 3

The Caps (6-2 Conf 9-3 overall) returned home Friday to dual it out with Conference rivals Millbrook. The Caps out hit the visitors 10 to 4 but couldn’t get the big run producing hits to fall, preventing the Caps from building a big lead. Millbrook’s scouting report had their fielders positioned perfectly taking away three hits that would have blown the game wide open but instead turned the game into a back and forth one run slug fest. The Caps pitching and defense get it done with solid performances and the offense took on a “whatever it takes” mentality to stay ahead! Millbrook struck first in the top of the second with one run. The Caps answered in the bottom of the second when Sr. Tanner Parker, who reached on a single, scored after being moved over on Sr. Kevin Partins walk and So. Max Magallanes’s RBI single. The Caps went ahead in the third with Sr. Brandon Saunders scoring on Sr. Payne Eller’s RBI single after Saunders was walked and stole second. With Millbrook tying the score in the top of the 4th, the Caps again respond with a run of their own behind back to back singles by So.’s Max Magallanes and Joe Bialkowski with Magallanes scoring on Sr. Brandon Saunders 2 out RBI single. The 5th sets up as a repeat of the 4th with Millbrook scoring to get it back 3-3, but the Caps manufacture another run behind Sr. Tanner Parker’s bunt single, Sr. Josh Clarks sacrifice bunt, a walk to Sr. Partin, So. Magallanes third single of the day and So. Bialkowski’s RBI sacrifice fly to deep left center field scoring Sr. Tanner Parker proving to be all the runs needed to secure the win.

Winning pitcher, So. Wilson White took control of the mound for the 6th and 7th innings to close things out from So. Lefty Joe Bialkowski who came in the 5th after taking over for starter Sr. Charlie Goode who gave the Caps a big outing with an excellent start limiting Millbrook to 2 runs on three hits, 1 strikeout and three walks. So. Bialkowski surrendered three walks in the 5th with no outs but the Sophomore dug deep showing tremendous composure and was able to get out of the inning allowing only one run after forcing three fly balls and giving up one hit. So. Wilson White took a couple batters to get going giving up two early walks in the 6th but found his rhythm picking up two huge strikeouts and rolling a 4-3 grounder for the last out to kill Millbrook’s last threat. So. White controlled the 7th with an additional strikeout and a couple of ground ball outs to win the game. So. White ended the day with 3 strikeouts, 2 walks, 0 hits and 0 runs. The defense continues its stellar performance with only one error.
