Wildcats Top Caps
Millbrook was able to get a key conference win, 4-2, in a matchup of two of the conference’s top pitchers. Broughton starter Thomas Walden (Sr.) pitched a nice complete game scattering eight hits but the Wildcats were able to keep the Caps at arm’s length.
After Millbrook scored an unearned run in the first, the Caps had runners on first and second in the 2nd but could not manage to score. Eli DeJesus (Sr. 2B) had a sharp double to left center and Walden walked. In the Broughton 3rd, Will Baldwin (Sr. SS) lead off with a line drive single to center, stole second, Mathias Dean (Soph. 1B) walked and both runners advanced on a wild pitch. That put Caps at 2nd and 3rd with one out. Unfortunately, Broughton was unable to score. Millbrook scored 2 in the 4th and added a run in the 5th. Warren Grady (Jr. CF) had a hard hit single in the Broughton half of the 5th but was left stranded.
In the Caps 6th, Dylan Lamm started things off with a walk, DeJesus reached base and both runners advanced to 2nd and 3rd on a throwing error. Walden followed with a 2 RBI single down the right field line scoring Lamm and DeJesus making the score 4-2. That would end up being the final as Broughton was unable to get anything going in its final at bat.
Next game: Tuesday, March 22nd @ Sanderson @ 4:30.
