Jr. Austin Walker got the start with Joe Bialkowski out with an ankle injury.  Walker battled through 4 innings surrendering 3 runs but was knocked out in 5 after starting the inning with 2 walks.  The Caps bullpen struggled giving up 7 runs over two innings.  The only scoring came in the top of the 5th with a RBI triple by Sr. Zi Hopkins followed by a RBI single from Jr. Max Magallanes.  Soph Ben Sawyer (moved up from JV this week) had a nice day going 1-2, scoring a run and getting the final 2 outs on the mound.

With the first half of conference play completed the Caps are 2-5, if they want to contend for another playoff run they have to find a way to win late in the game.  The Caps will start their second half on Tuesday @ Millbrook 7:00pm

The Caps also dropped their mid week non-conference game to Middle Creek 13-7.

Overall Record (3-13) Conference (2-5)

Spartans Are To Much for Broughton JV
Caps lose 14-2
The Caps had no home field advantage today against Sanderson. Eric Collins was the starting pitcher for the Caps with Morris behind the plate. The Spartans jumped out with 3 runs in the first. Collin’s tripled in the first, and Eller drove in Collins for an RBI.
The Spartans never looked back, scoring in the next 3 innings without an answer from Broughton. Johnson relieved Collins during the third. The Spartans were hard to contain. The Spartans scored in the 2nd, and led 9-1 after the 3rdInning.
Johnson held Sanderson scoreless in the 4th. Sanderson wasn’t making mistakes and kept the Caps from scoring in the 4th.
In the 5th, Sanderson peppered the defense again. Wheeless relieved Johnson for the Caps. The Spartans scored 5 runs, making it do or die for the Capitals.
The Spartans pitcher had been in the zone all game, but walked 2 to lead off the bottom of the 5th. Eller drove in another run bringing the Caps total to 2 runs.
Unfortunately, that was all Broughton could muster, falling to Sanderson 14-2.
