No Drama at Heritage as Caps Take Care of Business With a 10-1 Effort and Set Up a Cap 8 Showdown With First Place Wakefield!

Cap’s bats explode for 12 hits and 10 runs and handcuff Heritage batters for one unearned run behind a solid defensive effort and reliably pitching from the Senior hurlers Brandon Saunders and Pierce Jensen who combined for a one hitter and 6 strikeouts.
The Caps jumped out of the gates early, scoring 4 runs on back to back doubles by So.’s Joe Bialkowski and Wilson White with hot swinging Sr. Payne Eller’s finishing out the scoring in the inning with a two run RBI single. After surrendering an unearned run in the 2nd to Heritage, off a rundown throwing mistake, the Caps canceled it out in the top of the 4th with a run of their own off back to back singles by So.’s Max Magallanes and Wilson White. In the Top of the 5th the Caps bats blew it wide open with 4 more runs with lead off back to back doubles by Sr.’s Saunders and Eller, his 2nd RBI of the afternoon. A RBI single by Sr. Josh Clark and a walk by Sr. Kevin Partin set up two more RBI opportunities for So.’s Magallanes and Bialkowski with Magallanes lifting a sacrifice fly to left followed up by a double by Bialkowski for his 2nd RBI of the game. Caps picked up their last run in the 7th with So. Ziquine Hopkins working a walk and scoring from first on a RBI double to left center by Sr. Closer, Pierce Jensen.
Sr. Brandon Saunders (3-0) picked up his 3rd win of the season pitching 5 strong innings. Saunders pitching with a big early lead pounded the strike zone with fast balls picking up 4 strikeouts and 10 infield outs. Sr. closer Pierce Jensen took the mound in the 6th and kept the door shut on the Heritage batters keeping them hitless and scoreless with pinpointed fastballs adding two more strikeouts and 4 more infield outs to the game stats.

The Caps next game is scheduled for Thursday, March 31 at Wakefield 4:00pm, weather permitting.
Big news, Sanderson lost their lead and lost the game to Wake Forest Rolesville in extra innings yesterday, leaving Wakefield and Broughton tied at the top of the Cap 8 Conference setting the stage for an early first place head to head league battle!
