Caps Drop Rematch Against Garner

The Garner bats came alive as they defeated the Broughton Caps 13-3 at Trojan Field on a windy afternoon.  Garner jumped out to a 4-0 lead after 1 but the Caps plated 3 in the top of the 2nd to get back in the game.  Mathis Dean (Soph./1B) started the inning with a double to deep center and later scored as Thomas Walden (Sr./RF) reached on an error.  Eli DeJesus (Sr. DH) also reached on an error allowing Walden to score.  Will Baldwin (Sr. SS) followed with a line drive RBI single to right scoring DeJesus for the Caps third and final run.

Senior Jacob McCaslin came on in relief and pitched a scoreless 3rd and 4th.  In the Broughton 4th, Dylan Lamm (Sr. LF) reached on an error and DeJesus singled but the Caps could not mount a rally.  Freshman catcher Penn Sealey did a nice job behind the plate and threw out a Trojan attempting to steal in the 4th inning.

Next game: Friday, March 4th @ Broughton vs. Knightdale @ 4:00.
