Caps Lose Close One

Broughton played well but came up short in a 3-0 loss to the Millbrook Wildcats, overshadowing a brilliant pitching performance by junior Thomas Walden.  Millbrook scored all of their runs in the bottom of the 1st on a couple of errors and three hits.  Walden silenced the Millbrook bats the rest of the way and finished with a complete game four-hitter.  Defensive highlights included two double plays and throwing out a runner at third and at home.  Shortstop Dom Ford (Sr.) and second baseman Kyle Ehlers (Fr.) teamed up on a 6-4-3 double play in the first; catcher John Woods (Sr.) threw to third baseman Eli Dejesus (Jr.) to tag out a Wildcat trying to steal in the third; and in the 5th Walden fielded a slow grounder and tossed to second baseman Will Collins (Jr.) who was covering first.  Collins then threw a bullet home to Woods for the tag.  Will Baldwin (Jr.) lead the Caps’ offense with two hits.
