Caps had their chances in the late innings but come up empty Losing to Wakefield 3-2
Jr. Wilson White threw a great game going all 7 and giving up only 3 runs but the Capitals were unable to get key hits leaving 8 men on base in scoring position. In both the 6th and 7th innings the Caps had a man on 3rd and just could not get the run across. The Caps continue to find themselves in a position to win late in the game and are just unable to close the deal.
They will go at it again today at 7:00pm at Middle Creek

With two players called up to Varsity and Jared Feeny along with Tommy Corchiani nursing injuries, the Caps were matched with hard-throwing ace Jake Butler and the Wolverines. Broughton answered back with a left handed freshman and a promising new catcher in Sam Morris. Top of the first Sam gets on by an error on Wakefield. With two outs Ben Eller sends a double down the right field line to score Morris. A single by Arian Rodriguez puts men on first and third. Daniel Wheeless drives in Eller but Rodriguez gets thrown out at third for the third out. Freshman Noah Yarborough overcame a Broughton error by striking out three to end the first.
In the second Yarborough starts the action with a single. John Baldwin’s single drives in pinch runner Andrew Saba. An error on a ground ball by Sam Morris allows Baldwin to score. A base hit by Eric Collins puts runners on second and third. A single by Eller plates pinch runner Conner Johnson to end the scoring. This time Yarbourgh gets around a base hit with two strikouts to end the second.
Although they hit the ball hard off of a good pitcher, Broughton failed to score until the seventh inning. In the fourth inning Wakefield scores one run on a Broughton error. They get their first earned run in the fifth to trail 5-2.
Daniel Wheless drives in Eric Collins with a double after Collins led off the seventh on a base hit to end the Broughton scoring. Connor Johnson comes in to pitch in the 6th inning and holds Wakefield scoreless to claim the save.
